Jean Luc Seigneur is a Gilding and Goffreing Iron Engraver
These engraving techniques appeared at the turn of the 19th Century and were developed ever since, thanks to the appearance of the cast iron printing presses. Gilding and goffering iron engraving matured and became a craft, alongside the 20th Century Luxury Printing, Papermaking and Cardboard Manufacturing Industries.
Jean-Luc Seigneur gives a new perspective to this venerable form of engraving. His coloured Prints, inspired by nature, his Collector's Books and his research with fellow Craftsmen and Contemporary Artists on relief design printing techniques or goffering printing on unusual materials have given a distinct stamp to his artwork. Jean-Luc Seigneur teaches at the prestigious French Art School Ecole Estienne.
